COME ON HOME * BIG MACEO * RCA VICTOR 20-2173 * USA
Recorded on July 5th, just at the end of the Second World War, this song looks like it could be aimed at the those many thousands of folk who had friends and family in the services' still stationed overseas, yet it is a traditional 'man needs woman' lament. Popularly known as Jump Blues at the time, Vocalist and piano player Big Maceo Merriweather helped pioneer the pounding piano sound that was to become so popular in the early 1950s. The B side of a piano led instrumental Big Maceo is accompanied with Tampa Red on guitar and Tyrell Dixon, drums.
