Although Dinah Washington was born Alabama August she grew up on Chicago's South Side, and signed with Irving Green's fledgling Chicago independent Mercury label 'Race Series' at the end of WW2. The series ran from number 8001 in 1945 and ended, seven more issues after the above B side to Double Dealing Daddy, on number 8299 Mumbles Blues in 1952; some three hundred issues in all, showcasing the talents of such great artists along with 'The Queen' Dinah Washington, as Helen Humes, Julia Lee, Eddie "Cleanhead" Vincent, T-Bone Walker, The Ravens, The Red Caps, Lightnin' Hopkins, Memphis Slim, Johnny Otis Orchestra and  The Jay McShann Orchestra.
