IT AIN'T THE MEAT * THE SWALLOWS WITH THE SONNY THOMPSON COMBO * VOGUE 2136 * UK

Not the same coupling as on the original King release, this British Vogue issue takes the A side of the groups third King release and the B side Roll, Roll Pretty Baby of their fourth. It Ain't The Meat (it's the motion)  is about as risqué as it can get without being outright dirty (or maybe it is outright dirty) which is an art form who's subtly reached perfection in the 1950s. The group came from Baltimore and were previously known as The Oakateers, then in the late 1940s they, like countless other vocal and R&B groups, adopted a bird name as their collective moniker.
