Released in the US on the Atco label in August 1959 Poison Ivy was The Coasters eleventh record for the imprint, it went to the number 1 spot on the R&B charts, and number seven Pop; the record even sold well enough in the British Isles to peak at number 15 on the British 'Top Twenty' chart.
