At present, in England, there is a welcome shift in the position, vis-à-vis the Government, of some of the unions that represent working class members. It would seem that they, the unions, have ousted their former leaders, who were willing to play a very low key role on behalf of working class people for the sake of an unspecified role they enjoyed with their Government. Since the beginning of 2002, after the present Government have ruled for approximately 5 years, this new wave of Union bosses have been more vocal, and less willing to accept the patronage and rhetoric (sometimes referred to as spin) directed at them from ministers. In their vocalizations and positioning, even sometimes their dress, one thing has been clear, that although the present government dissemble under the name Labor, which had, ultimately, the working classes as it raison d'être, they share very little in common with those people or their values. The new union leaders and their members, have brought back a class focus that the ruling elite would sooner flatter us doesn't exist, and while I don't share all the unions ideology I do welcome this aspect, at least.
