HE MEANS THE WORLD TO ME * THE SUPREMES * STATESIDE 327 * UK
Of course this record is more well known for the A side Where Did Our Love Go a song that was the turning point in the fortunes of the group. The Supremes were, prior to this release, disenchanted with Motown, and demanding more attention they were assigned the song writing/producing team of Holland Dozier Holland, who offered them Where Did Our Love Go. The song had been written for The Marvelettes, lead singer Gladys Horton had cut a demo of it, so that when Diana Ross, lead singer of the Supremes, sang it she sang in the style of Horton. The record was released in the USA June 1964 on Motown 1060, and two months later in the UK.
