SHORT FAT FANNIE * LARRY WILLIAMS * LONDON 8472* UK

Larry Williams had his first big hit with the above self penned song which name checks all the big R&B hits of the day; a clever tactic because as it inserts his own title into the weave, Short Fat Fannie becomes, by association on a par with those other hits. Whether the, err, Fannie he refers to was of his acquaintance or not is not clear, but it sounds like he had a good time cutting it, as it were. It was originally released on Specialty 608, and Larry Williams also played piano, with Earl Palmer on drums; sadly Larry Williams died of gunshot wounds in 1980.
